Tamako is devastated after her brutal loss against the N.O.B. Mokichi has a plan to raise her spirits – and maybe her skirt - but what gets her fire going is a fight she happens upon by a member of the N.O.B. His name is Dai and his fighting style catches more than Tamako’s eye. She chases after the deadly dude to learn more. But what she is about to find out is that all the member’s of the Swan Academy Wrestling Club have been sentenced to death by the N.O.B.! The Tournament of Death has begun! Each of the Swan Academy wrestling club members are targeted. Vice captain (our fave lesbian) fights against Koumoku of the Elite Four! The vice captain of the Swan Academy Wrestling Club might have more than she can chew with this younger girl, but what if it’s Koumoka who can’t handle the vice captain? You know how she loves to fight dirty! And we love her for it! Wait until you see the results! Wimpy Mokichi fights with his all and maybe isn’t so wimpy after all. And Tamako and Dai have a meeting of …something. But it may be that the first casualty of this new war is the perverted coach himself when he faces against his former pupil and Tamako’s girl pal turned traitor Mukoda Kuniko!
This is the last volume of Battle Club for us English speakin’ and readin’ fans. Like Battle Vixens, this is another ongoing title that just isn’t being continued. Excuse me why I wail and sob quietly to myself for a moment. This is one of the coolest volumes yet. You have big time dramatic fights with everything on the line and things getting dead personal, and I stress the word dead. To make it that much more personal, we get flashbacks into Dai when he first hooked up with the evil N.O.B. and why, Koumoko’s early years and why she fights, and the big one – why Mukoda is on a murderous rampage to kill the coach! It’s got some of the wickedest art. And I do mean wicked. This has some of the most rampant fan service in this manga series yet! There’s a particularly tantalizing ecchi scene with Miss Lesbian Vice Captain getting a tongue bath by her …special friends. Ahh, happy times. And the fights are brutal! No holds barred and they each really give it their all. It’s a manga that’s been fantastic fun, has inspiring moments of all kinds, and you can OD on the fan service! IN SUMMARY: Battle Club is the ultimate guilty pleasure! Fantastic art, amazing physical feats and stunning fan service time and time again! |
