The army of Hades has infiltrated deeper into Sanctuary, as they follow Saga, Shun and Camus from one temple to the next in this new installment of KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC manga by Viz Media. Hoshi’s mysterious past comes into a new light and it’s a war on all fronts to protect Athena.
Princess Sienna is the reincarnation of Athena, and as such she needed an army fit to protect her against anything. The Grande Foundation sent out 100 young boys into the world to train as knights fit to be Athena’s army. Four Bronze knights, Seiya, Hyoga, Shiryuu, and Shun did exceptionally well in training, and they returned to Sanctuary to fight the 12 Gold Knights and their corrupt master, Gemini Saga. In the end, Saga took his own life and thus ending the battle for Sanctuary. Before the Bronze Knights could recover, the Sea God Poseidon rose from the depths with the threat of total destruction. Before earning their rest, the Bronze Knights fought bravely against Poseidon and defeated him as well. But now Hades, the God of the Underworld, has awakened from slumber and sent his army out to conquer all of Earth. His army of specters includes the 12 Gold Knights who died in battle at Sanctuary. This volume starts with Saga, Shun and Camus making their way from one temple to the next, in their attempt to reach Athena. The mystery of the illusions is solved, and Saga must now think of a way to rid them for good of the illusionist. Things between Hoshi and Shion come to a boiling point, and the surprise arrival of one of the Gold Knights may turn the tide in the outcome of this battle. Hoshi’s long kept secret is discovered. Mu faces off against Hades’ Butterfly, and the fight quickly becomes a test of their telekinetic powers. When everyone is pushed to their limit and beyond, who is the victor? KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC Volume 20 gets shelved along with its predecessors as a unique story incorporating astrology and brotherhood. The fantasy-like drawing sis well used to portray the vastness of the characters and the world around them. Perhaps due to Athena’s rule that no Knight shall carry armor, this series is free of blood, with minimal violence. The bug-like armor of Hade’s Surplice is very intriguing and both fitting in its context and complementing the personalities of the wearer. Also included in this volume are special extras after the story, depicting a few Surplices. Ads for other Viz Media releases fill out the remaining pages in this volume.
