SYNOPSIS: The gateway between Human World and Demon World has opened…Can Yusuke’s team save the human race? Only a savage showdown between past and present Spirit Detectives will tell! Sensui retreats into the tunnel after dealing Yusuke a crushing blow. With no thought to their own safety, Kawabara, Kurama and Hiei charge deep into the tunnel in an effort to rid all worlds of Sensui forever.
REVIEW: A spirit detective may fall never to rise again! The portal to the demon world is opened! Doom is at hand! At that’s how this set of discs starts off. This is only the beginning of the most recent 14 eps of uncut Hakusho action brawling goodness. The Sensui saga comes to a big time shocking final battle! Yusuke goes down hard in the eternal dirt nap sense. But that’s hardly the first time this do-gooder has bit the dust! And if his friends have anything to say about it, it won’t be his last! They go at it, Yusuke gets an umpteenth chance at life and then we get the biggest showdown of the entire anime series so far when Yusuke goes through a huge change to take down Sensui once and for all! Who knew he had Demon power in him? Seems the little guy has a big TKO to dish out due to his ancestry. But after all the big surprises, bigger changes, and huge battles, the team is in for some down time. One of the episodes is devoted pretty exclusively to showcasing how each of the people from the most recent long story arc are doing and how. We get to see Game Master, Sniper and the rest and find out what happened to them since they lost to Yusuke and friends. It’s a bit of quiet time and it’s a nice break from all the intense action, but Yusuke is going crazy with boredom. To find out what’s bugging him, his search for answers brings him to the very first spirit detective ever– Kuroko. She’s mastered the art of dead pan humor among other things. Her palm reading husband doesn’t like what he sees in Yusuke’s palm. Next thing you know, demons show up with an invitation for Yusuke to go to the Demon World and take his demon daddy’s place! (Okay so in the Japanese version King Raizen is his father, in the English dubbed version, he’s his ancestral daddy-o). Seems the Demon World is balanced o-so-precariously between three big demon dudes. These three kings are about to have a smackdown though, and only Yusuke’s dad Raizen wants to protect the humans. So Yusuke has to choose: go to the Demon World and train under Raizen for 3 years to defeat the other 2 demon kings, or let the human race fall to the other 2 demon lords down the line. Like that’s much of a choice! He’s the hero, like we don’t know which he’ll choose! He’s not the only one getting invitations though. Hiei gets an invite from a Demon King and it’s not Raizen. Kurama gets one too and this one is from the third king! That means that these three friends might end up having to battle it out to the death with each other! Bad karma man! This show is fun. Pure fun. It even has a sweetheart moment with Yusuke when he says goodbye to that sweetie of his, Keiko. If he lives, I want to know if he’s going to follow through on that proposal of his. What proposal you ask? Watch the show and find out! You’ll love it! EXTRAS: Extra goodies include clean opening and closing animation, FUNimation trailers, and short little character profiles. IN SUMMARY: The latest Yu Yu Hakusho has tons of surprises! Demon Kings, at least one of the team going away for years, and a big whopping transformation for Yusuke! |
