When last the manga series left off, Kazuki and Gouta had joined forces to battle the Alchemist Warriors hunting Kazuki and Tokiko down. But Tokiko has been shrunk to an inch in size and is alone facing one of the creepiest hunters that are after them! Add in a face off between Kazuki and Captain Bravo and you have one of the most suspenseful and action packed volumes of Buso Renkin yet!

Tokiko’s battle with the twisted hunter Maruyama is suspenseful and impressive. It really shows off her strategic abilities as well as her never-give-up attitude. She can’t give in and she won’t back down from this evil alchemist warrior despite her being doll-sized.  She’s one of the toughest characters in this solidly entertaining action series. While she’s fighting one bad guy, Gouta and Kazuki are having trouble of their own. And even when they manage to face off against some tough alchemist customers, Captain Bravo shows up to take Kazuki on in one do or die final battle, winner take all, including the other’s life! This battle will give an inside look into Captain Bravo, and change the direction of the story.

When the smoke clears, the supreme commander of the alchemist Army’s Field Force arrives. They’ve located Victor as well as Kazuki and Tokiko. The big question: are they there to take down Kazuki and Tokiko or to ask them to help take down Victor? Either way, a big battle lies ahead for Kazuki and his time is running out as the Black Kakugane feeds off his life force more and more with each exertion. It adds that ticking bomb kind of suspense to the series, as time runs out for him and each battle he enters runs the risk of him turning into a Victor, meaning that Tokiko will have to kill him! Drama, excitement, this action series has more punch than expected and great art to go with it.

IN SUMMARY:
Buso Renkin is immensely engaging, fast paced with lots of dramatic action and amazing fight scenes. From the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, this is a not to be missed manga series. The latest volume sees the story building to the final battle as lines are drawn and the next stage is set.
