An eclectic collection of edgy songs and high energy, Gackt’s ~Red~ compilation of music videos from 1999 to 2006 features a very different feel and range of songs for Gackt fans to enjoy. Quite different from ~Blue~, this collection goes for anything ranging from love songs to loss to life. They cover a vast array of styles ranging from pop to hard rock, techno, and even a touch of punk, showing Gackt’s musical diversity and fearless experimentation as a singer.
The videos reflect that diversity in the scope of imagery offered. “Oasis” is set in a post-apocalyptic world with elaborate sets and a slick look. “Metamorphoze” offers an interesting blend of 2D and CG animation, while “Redemption” features hard rock. Some of the most elaborate and detailed set designs and costuming are showcased in “Mizerable”. “Black Stone” is a high octane song with a hard rock sound and look with a touch of punk. In “Seki-Ray” the intense song is added by the haunting visuals that border between dreamscapes and nightmares. No bonus features. But a special note about the cover, it is reversed (you open it from the left side rather than the right) and has an eye with a red iris, when put together with the Gackt ~Blue~ DVD, makes as if a person with one eye blue and the other red is looking right at you.
