Invisible Boy is a fantastically entertaining new series from the artist and author who brought as Time Lag and the wonderful art work from Only the Ring Finger Knows.
Set in the elite of the elite all boys’ school, Ouka Academy only takes the most exceptional and none are more so than the student council. Headed by the gentle and kind Yuushi, he must deal with various school crises, throngs of admirers of all kinds, and his own eccentric council members. But no one seizes his attention more than the gentle and insecure Nagi. When Nagi’s situation and loneliness become known to Yuushi, he battles with his own sense of helplessness in his efforts to help the sweet Nagi who has grown to become so endeared to Yuushi. But when a birthday approaches and a crushing disappointment follows, Yuushi lets go of his reserve and gives it his all to bring Nagi happiness. This is an exceptionally sweet story with some romping comedy with the eccentric council members. Nagi has a past but his memory of the sickly boy from long ago might prove to be someone closer than he thinks. As mysterious as some of the crazy characters of the council can be, it’s the kind and compassionate caring Yuushi who steals the show as the most enigmatic. There’s little given about his past and yet the reasons for him being at the school are teasingly dangled before the reader as a tantalizing secret we want to know. Although nothing racy happens, no seduction outright takes place, this is a more romantic tale, relying on attractive men with even more appealing personalities and caring hearts winning each other over slowly through gentle deeds and soft words. This is only volume one, you’ll find yourself very eager to discover where the next volume will take these young men. The story also holds wonderful art work, some of the best in the business. IN SUMMARY: An elite academy, a cadre of eccentric and attractive young men, Invisible Boy is a sweetly romantic and cheering yaoi manga that will appeal to fans of Ouran Host Club High School, Gakuen Heaven, Princess Princess and Can’t Win With You. |
