STEPHANIE WITTELS

Stephanie Wittels, a relatively new comer in the anime voice acting business talks to us about herself, anime, and her sudden rise in the anime voice acting industry in just over a year. Stephanie is currently doing voice over for ADV Films and has the lead roles in Xenosaga The Animation and Welcome to the NHK. Interview is in an audio response format.

• As one of the newest and fastest movers in the anime voice acting business, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

• How did you get into voice acting, and who was the first character you portrayed in your debut?

• You’ve only been in the industry in just little over a year and you’re already portrayed lead and supporting roles, how does it feel to suddenly accomplish these feats, and were you expecting something like this to happen right away?

• Does your experience in stage acting help you in any way with your voice acting, and in what way?

• Since you’re new in the industry, how do you prepare yourself for a role and how do you keep up with all of them?

• How did it feel landing the lead role in Xenosaga The Animation, one of the most anticipated anime series to come out this year?

• Were you aware that Xenosaga has a cult following in the gaming industry, and did that put any pressure on you when playing Shion?

• In Welcome to the NHK, you’re playing a character that’s totally immersed in the world of anime and otaku. Were you aware that the art form can have a variety of subjects from kid shows to adult themes and in between? What was your initial impression on that and were you an anime fan in general?

• You’ve played characters in the past, present, and future. If you could travel in time once, where would you go, what would you do and why?

• Any embarrassing moment during recording, or have any directors ever made fun of you during recording sessions?

• Do you foresee yourself doing more voice acting in the future?

• Stephanie, thank you for your time, but before we let you go, is there anything you would like to say to the fans out there?

Cool interview. Stephanie Wittels is really great in Welcome to the NHK as Misaki Nakahara! Hope to hear more of her in great roles like this.
