Could stuck up rich girl Eri have fallen for bad boy delinquent Harima?! And what are those sparks flying between him and Yakumo? Could he be love crazed for the wrong sister? It’s love gone mad in School Rumble!

My, my how tangled this love nest gets with these crazy kids! All these high schoolers have love running amok with them.  Eri could well be denying having fallen for rough guy Harima, but it sure seems like she’s taken a soft spot to the insane dude. Why is he crazy? Have you seen this guy?! He’s been stupid in love with ditzy girl Tenma who is clueless to his feelings because she’s as madly in love and obsessed over geek boy Karasuma who’s equally clueless to it all. Oy! Now that Eri seems to be pining for the boy with the shades, things could get messy. And he’s busy getting help from Tenma’s older sister Yakumo with his manga artist dreams. People are quick to misunderstand and now think they’re a couple! With all that smoke, there may be an itty bitty fire wanting to brew between good girl Yakumo and bad boy Harima, that is if Eri doesn’t decide to sink her claws into him first!

Not that he’s aware of anything except Tenma (maybe he might be starting to notice her older sister now though). When he finally gets the one smidgeon of sense and realizes Tenma doesn’t yen for him, he goes off on some crazy psycho fishing trawler to run away from his broken heart. He gets picked on for his mangaka yearnings and the scary muscle bound captain wants to have a word with his newest sailor. Could this be the end of Harima? Of course not! It’s not that kind of manga. School Rumble is a crazy comedic love rollercoaster for all the characters in it.  

It’s off beat and funny as hell. I love the way the artist mixes up the drawing style for the over-the-top dramatic effect (done purely for laughs) when Harima is on the fishing boat. His expressions always crack me up. Now that Eri is maybe getting sweet on him, things are looking interesting. But it also seems like Yakumo may have caught his eye when I thought nothing else except Tenma could! What will happen next? It’s anyone’s guess because anything goes in School Rumble!

Fun playful extras in the manga include the usual translation notes and also “Short Rumble” comic shorts with the Rumble gang.

IN SUMMARY:
It’s love gone wild in School Rumble! Eri may have fallen for Harima, he’s out to sea (literally!) when he realizes the love of his life, Tenma, doesn’t return his feelings, and yet he might just be starting to notice Tenma’s older sister Yakumo! All that and Harima tries to achieve his mangaka dreams.
