No matter how many times he gets shot down, Yamato keeps trying to win over hard case Suzuka. And things finally might be heating up for the boy who puts new meaning to the word “persistence”. The thing is, it isn’t with Suzuka! Nuh-uh! It seems Honoka has been harboring loving feelings for dense boy Yamato for some time and now is her chance to shine! She tells what she feels and she puts the wet whammy on him to back it up! Will Suzuka wise up and step up before another girl makes off with the man she likes to use and abuse?
You know, I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting some time now for Yamato to get at least a little fed up with how Suzuka keeps abusing him and yanking him around. Now that doesn’t exactly happen, but what does happen is that he’s bruised and tired of it. And during their trip to the L.H. track competition, Honoka tells Suzuka how she truly feels, asks Suzuka how she feels, and thinking the field is clear, takes her chance with getting Yamato all to herself. The girl’s been crazy in love with him for half of forever and they have a lot in common. Plus she’s beautiful. And unlike Suzuka, Honoka is nice to Yamato. She helps him relax and cheers him up when he loses confidence at the track meet. When she kisses him, he’s twitterpated. Suddenly he realizes he can have the love of a beautiful girl. The big question that gets answered in this volume is does he go for it or not? Honoka is definitely deserving in my opinion. She’s gorgeous, sweet and most importantly, is honest about her feelings. Those last qualities are things Suzuka is definitely lacking. I know a bunch of you Suzuka fans are hating my butt right now but listen, a guy should never take that much abuse! Plus she’s conniving. Don’t believe me? Wait until you read what she does when she and Yamato get stranded after missing the train back to Tokyo and have to spend the night together. She knows Honoka has made her move, but even though Suzuka won’t fess up to how she really feels, she’s willing to mess up Honoka’s chances – deliberately. We call that e-v-i-l. Evil! Aside from all that soap opera drama, there’s still some fan service slyly put in. The art keeps looking better and better. And the manga has a few extras like the usual translation notes, preview of the next volume, and Suzuka four-panel theater. IN SUMMARY: Love is in the air but it might not be Suzuka that wins Yamato in the end! Honoka has made her move and Yamato is weakening to the softer side of love. Love is a race not everyone can win in the manga Suzuka! |
