The battle with Behemoth hits ground zero in the destruction zone when Ikki takes down the dome and his opponents – at least he tries to. But the King of Beasts, Akira, is one super tough opponent. It all comes down to a double team of Agito and Ikki versus bug eyed Mitsuru and powered up Akira. It’s not guts, no glory. If Ikki really wants to rule the eight roads and be the Sky King, it’s time for him to earn the title! Are you ready to ru-u-umble!

The main bunch of eps in this volume is all about the big battle going down between Ikki, Agito, Mitsuru and Akira. We get a mega flashback moment when we’re shown both Agito’s life and how this psycho second personality was born, and we find out all about the King of Beasts , his history with Agito, and just why he wields the heavy Regalia know as Fang. It’s drama meeting kick ass action. The fights rock out this volume!  You’ll never have cheered for Ikki more than now. And the fallout after the fight is unbelievable. Kaito shows up and a sacrifice is made. One character is going down!

A Godzilla sized surprise waits for Ikki after the big battle is done. Simca the Swallow makes her big move and she puts the huge army of Storm Riders, the Mega Storm and Genesis, under Ikki’s rule. He’s taking on the mantle of the Sky King, that is if he’s got what it takes…

Things are all neat and tidy though. Simca’s got a plan, seems she wants to take the big sacred tower down and will use Ikki to do it. Why? Who knows yet? Hopefully we’ll get the skinny on that down the road. One thing’s for sure, Ikki doesn’t seem ready for this. The boy lacks confidence. But a trek out with his home boys to Battleship Island for a seemingly simple parts war with the weird Potemkines may put his head back on his shoulders and firm up his manly confidence. In fact this reaches the special episode at the end of this disc. That’s right, you get another whopping 5 eps this volume. The thing is the last ep on this disc is called “Special Trick” and is more of an off side adventure. It gives a little lookee into the life of Kazu and a girl who’s been crushing on him form afar, that sweet hottie Emiri. She’ll have a tough time of it though. The popular bi-otch of the school has her eyes on Kazu and is makin’ to cause some damage against sweet Emiri! The wench! But if Kazu is half the guy he seems to be, he’ll pick the right girl for sure.  So this volume has it all, ultra-awesome action, a big shift in power for the boys at home, and even a wee bit of romance.

EXTRAS:
It has clean opening and closing animation, previews, and another shiny foil cover. Plus this DVD has a special episode “Trick Session” you can refer to the review above for the low down on that sweet ep.

IN SUMMARY:
Air Gear has kick ass action and awesome visuals that makes you feel like you’re there riding the wind too! The penultimate volume has the climax to the Behemoth battle, the jaw-dropping outcome, and Ikki taking the crown. Now let’s see if he can keep it!
