Forced to lead the Hittite military thanks to Nakia’s scheming, Yuri as Ishtar, finds her hopes to protect the crucial territory of Ugarit made difficult by a misguided king who blames Yuri’s beloved Kail, now ruler of the Hittites, to be partially responsible for the death of the old king’s daughter. Despite her protests and pleas for reason, the king won’t lift a finger to raise defenses against the oncoming Egyptian army. What none of them could be prepared for is that the army is being led by Ramses, and he hasn’t forgotten Yuri.

Occupied with how to delay the Egyptian troops for the three days that it will take Kail and the full force of the Hittite military to arrive, Yuri proves herself a smart strategist. She comes up with an idea thanks to the prostitutes in Ugarit. However much of it depends on her being there in disguise as one of them in order to ensure the plan goes off without a hitch. But problems do arise when Yuri crosses paths with none other than Ramses!

Now his captive, she is frantic to get away. But a startling revelation is about to occur, one that will affect them all. Kail and his forces descend upon the unprepared Egyptian forces, and luckily he manages to regain the woman who holds his heart. When he learns of Yuri’s condition, he plans to send her to a nearby nation that is an ally of the Hittites; anything to keep her safe and away from Nakia and her deadly plotting. But Urhi, the beautiful and lethal right hand man for Nakia’s evil doing has caught on to the king’s plan and has a scheme of his own.

The manga displays immersing and wonderful story telling, with a lovely wind swept art style. It very much captures the feel of the larger romantic epics. The latest developments display how much Yuri has grown from a frightened 21st century girl, into a woman in love, and a leader to the people of the nation she has come to embrace as her own.

The manga holds a bonus illustrations gallery.

IN SUMMARY:
This immersing epic takes a startling turn when Yuri ends up in enemy hands and discovers a shocking truth. Red River is a sweeping fantasy epic.
