A town is terrorised by a huge hulk of a man when a lone warrior comes to combat him and saves the place, ridding it of the disturbance, when a villager asks him if he will accompany him to the kingdom of Sarash as it is in need of his tremendous skill with the blade, as the kingdom is threatened by upheaval unless he comes and gives a hand in sorting it out. Feeling as though it is his duty, the warrior accepts and goes with him, as he is a guardian, and as such is a man of great strength. His people are bred from being young to be the best warriors of their kind and to take on anything in their way.

Sastre the guardian comes to the kingdom of Sarash, where prince Anel is waiting for him, and looks him up and down as if he is not the right man to use to keep the place at peace. Tares, the royal councillor tells Sastre the dire news that their kingdom and that of neighbouring Tyrsan has not been good lately, and the unrest between them both could spell war. In this there is only one solution and that is for prince Anel to marry the neighbouring kingdom's princess Indira, to cement their relationship once and for all.

The only problem is the journey he will make to see the princess, and as there are rebels who want to overthrow the throne, they will stop at nothing to kill the prince, so Sastre has to go with him to ensure that he gets there safely. And as it is supposed to be a peaceful journey to the kingdom, he cannot risk going with an armed escort of soldiers or he would give the other kingdom's people the wrong impression.

Accepting the task, Sastre familiarises himself with the castle and people, finding that the prince already has a lover and that he is jealous of the affection he lays on the new guardian Sastre.

After seeing him up close and personal, Anel wishes to see more of Sastre, and he does. He disrobes to show not only his well-toned and muscled body, he shows him the large tribal tattoo on his back which is proof that he was initiated into the order of the guardians.

While Kaleth and the prince are making love, all Anel can think of is the new guardian and breaks off their togetherness to go talk to Sastre about some matter of importance. Once Sastre knocks on his door and enters, he is greeted with the prince's unexpected nakedness, and an invitation to show his tattoo once again by royal appointment.

Prince Anel speaks with Sastre about the plan he has to send Kaleth as his decoy, and pose dressed as the prince, while he will follow along behind as his servant. Sastre finds it an interesting plan, but informs him his decoy will be put in grave danger if they go through with it.

Anel introduces Sastre to the young Kaleth who will travel with them disguised, and then when he is alone in the castle, he breaks down, thinking why the prince has chosen him of all the servants in the place to walk into certain death. He now thinks he is using him as he knows he has a crush on Anel and thinks he will do anything for him - even if it means his death.

When they make their plans to leave to journey to the rival princes’ kingdom, Sastre develops affection for the young servant Kaleth even though he starts to resent him for being used in the prince’s plan. Just as Sastre thinks everything is going to plan, it all starts to go very wrong as the real prince falls into enemy hands. What can Sastre to rectify the problems he faces, and can he save the poor Kaleth who risks all to help the prince when he does not return his affections?

The use of shade and hatching in Kosen's artwork is spectacular and provocative as it shows perfectly well the dramatic entrances of the main characters in fight situations. The shading is particularly dramatic, and proves that it can be used to great effect within the manga.

IN SUMMARY:
This is a dramatic tale of two males who are sent into the very brink of war while jealousy, bitter rivalry and intense love reign in this luscious fantasy setting.
