In the episode "Dream In Progress," Ray Lundgren fires a volley of bullets at The Claw, but he manages to dodge them well enough to ask Ray if he has a dream.Ray has. But it is one that sees him destroyed utterly in vengeance. Wendy, Connor and Joshua are caught up in the drama and crossfire of their meeting.
Meanwhile, Van tackles Gadved who he formerly thought was his mentor and friend. He battles him controlling one of the huge mecha Armors in a deadly tournament with his old former friend. Van fights like an animal, full of hurt, pain and without fear of the consequences he may face if he loses. Joshua tries to convince Ray not to kill The Claw as his act of revenge would not bring Shino back. When The Claw says he fails to remember what he did to Shino all those years ago, Ray becomes furious in his desire to murder him in cold blood. When The Claw remembers his killing her, he asks Ray if it was such a bad thing to end her life. Fury in his eyes, Ray makes a strike at him. Van is told of what originally happened all that time ago. All he wants to know is where The Claw is, but he does not recall a thing. The battle becomes heated, with Van trying to control his mecha Armor, his anger and insanity increasing with all he learns about the reality of the past, which becomes so startling and cruel even he has trouble dealing with it in the world they are in now. Brave Joshua runs in front of The Claw, taking the bullet he should have had. Falling, his last words are that he could not let Ray become a murderer. The Claw in turn offers Ray an ultimatum while Van is offered something else in return. Can they both refuse these offers? As Gadved battles with Van, and tries to hurt him and dampen his morale, Van comes to terms with what happened in the past and realises humanity can make its own fate and with one last breath they clash, but who will be the victor? Smooth animation with fight scenes that are almost cataclysmic in their execution. The characters show strong depth of personality, each with their own agenda and purpose. The character's personalities are intriguing. Joshua is as brave as ever, while Carmen 99 shows her much harder side to her trying to help her friends out when they seem to need it. The clarity of the DVD is perfect and the colours bright giving the viewer the hint that hope is in the air for the characters themselves later on in the series. This is a must for anyone enamoured with the Sci-Fi Western type anime genre as it does not fail to keep the interest flowing. EXTRAS: Gun x Sword-San Ep 7& 8, TV Commercials 2, (Japanese), Japanese Trailer # 03, and a beautiful Art Gallery with Trailers make this an interesting accompaniment to the anime. IN SUMMARY: Fast mecha battles with drama included - sensational.
