Kanchome finds out he’s a hero after all, Zatch has an evil twin, and a powerful new mamodo is about to kick Zatch and Kiyo big time! It’s a volume full of stand alone adventures! Right off the cuff Kanchome is doing his wee best to protect his little sister from the big, bad baddies in town. The little guy is about to show how big his heart and his might really are! Next, when Zatch gets a cold, he’s a whiny mamodo. But news from a buddy might mean there’s an evil Zatch twin running around and doing in all the good mamodo candidates. Afterwards, there’s a TV hero Zatch and Kiyo look up to and his name is Preying Mantis Joe. Right off this is one freaky lookin’ hero. He’s a man-sized mantis with the head of a man. Kinda creepy. But the episode is all about heart and virtue when Zatch learns what makes a real hero.

The big event is the arrival of a mean East European fighting team. This mamodo is more human looking than most. Not enough to pass but he’s tall, big, and fierce. Neither him nor his owner mind getting their hands dirty if you know what I mean. They’re ruthless, don’t mind endangering innocents and are out for blood. And their latest target is Kiyo and Zatch! This becomes one harsh fight with Kiyo and Zatch separated when they try to fight the bad guys and save the innocent bystanders. This mamodo is so bad even mighty little Zatch is afraid of him! The ep ends on a cliffhanger with the good guys down and the bad guys getting ready to move in to finish them!

The last eps show just what a pair of righteous dudes Kiyo and Zatch are. They try to win the day and save the people. I hate to admit it, but I get choked up every time I watch one of those cute mamodos get separated from their owners and zapped back to their world. The creepy and evil ones, no way, but the cute lady bug looking thing getting teary and crying for its partner? Man, it got to me. It was like watching some fluffy puppy get taken away from its owner.

EXTRAS:
Extras include previews of other Viz titles, Zatch video games, card games and manga.

IN SUMMARY:
Zatch might be down for the count this round! Big bad mamodos on one side and an evil twin on the other! It’s excitement and danger in the latest volume!
