Everything you thought you knew about this city and its people are about to be turned upside down in the riveting final volume of this tremendous sci-fi anime. Solty and Rose race to save Roy’s fate at the hands of the madman behind everything: the Blast Fall, the pending new cataclysm, and even the source of the founding of the city itself. But even if they can save Roy, who can save the city?
The final volume of Solty Rei has everything fans could want and more. At first the show reveals the story behind the RUC, its founder, and the real secret behind the Blast Fall, the city, and the aims of the madman behind everything. It’s all covered in one episode, and things seemed wrapped up with the heroes having won the day, but wait, the show does one of its famous turn arounds and so just when all seems well, the danger suddenly appears and has never been greater. The entire safety of the city is at stake. A disaster worst than the Blast Fall looms and there’s no time for second guesses or second chances. Only one person can stop it, and the sacrifice at hand may be far more than Roy can bear. A man already broken, the past year with Solty and then Rose has brought him partway back to the man he was. Now with this new pending loss fast approaching his life, he may end up broken past saving. To save humanity or the broken heart of one man? The choice will have to be made and it will give viewers a suspenseful, dramatic, and unforgettable, finale to this exceptional anime. The high emotionality of the ending isn’t the last of Solty Rei. Afterwards, there are two excellently done bonus episodes that give fans a special inside look into the lives of the characters of this series. They’re set early on before the high stake events of the finale. They are tied in together so fluidly that they play like one special episode. It all revolves around Roy taking on an unusual case, Appreciation Day, and a startling revelation about Kasha. There’s a lot of comedy and heartwarming moments. As the bonus episodes progress, they become a poignant addition to the series as a whole and a wonderful way to wind down from the emotional and suspenseful finale. EXTRAS: Bonus features include a slipcover over the DVD case, reversible wrap around cover art on the DVD case packaging itself, FUNimation trailers, and clean opening and closing animation. IN SUMMARY: Solty Rei is a remarkable science fiction story. The end is a touching and unforgettable climax to an astonishing anime series.
