Three more tales of love and friendship fill the latest episodes of To Heart with sweet affection. First, exam stress is high and a study session is planned. But when no one else can make it, Hiroyuki and Akari find themselves all alone at her house where anything can happen. Next, the Cultural Festival is coming up and it sets the stage for drama when we get a look inside the heart of the class rep, Tomoko. Then a touch of sci-fi is added to the scene when a female robot who is a manufactured android maid joins the class of 2-B. Multi’s cute, sweet, and is about to undergo quite the test in human interaction.

Like the rest of the series, this penultimate volume works as stand alone episodes highlighting a particular female character in each episode. The first gives a teasing bit of romantic intrigue as the potential couple of Hiroyuki and Akari are alone and bonding. Will they actually kiss? Could a confession be in the air? Then in Tomoko’s story, there’s a bit of angst as the girl who works so hard as a class rep, is misunderstood and shunned by her more self-centered classmates. It’s Akari who uncovers how considerate and thoughtful Tomoko is and how dedicated she is to making the Cultural Festival work so that everyone can have a good time. But can Akari and Hiroyuki help Tomoko be understood by her peers, while aiding her in getting everything ready in time for the festival?

The last episode really steps out of the norm so far by giving the anime the sci-fi addition of a girl robot. She’s one of the cutest characters in the anime and she certainly livens things up at the school. It seems she has to undergo a social test. What Hiroyuki and the others are about to find out is that if this cheerful new addition to their class fails, it might mean something awful for their newest friend.

This is what the show really comes down to – friendship with a lot of heart. Each episode is ultimately a story about the power of friendship and how kindness wins the day when things are dragging you down. Even some of the less social seeming types like sarcastic Hiroyuki or bossy and gossiping Shiho, are revealed early on as having generous hearts and altruistic natures. It’s an enjoyable anime that’s a nice change of pace.
