Ryuhei crushes on his middle school teacher and confronts him head on. He faces rejection, but this painful first love shows his good heart in how he tries to help the teacher who can’t return his love. Sometime later, Ryuhei has grown up and attends a high school where 90% of the population is gay! But his new uptight classmate Kunihisa is homophobic and didn’t know! When these two young men are chosen by the manipulative and handsome members of the student council to be the newest members, they are thrown together to become unlikely friends. With sneaky student council members, guys throwing themselves at anxiety ridden hetero Kunihisa, Ryuhei finds that he has his work cut out for him to help his friend out. He can’t seem to help feeling sorry for the guy. Or is there something more? With all the time they spend together, could there be something there that wasn’t there before?

This series is a winding road to love. Will these two ever get together? They both seem clueless to their own feelings let alone each others. Sure enough though, when handsome Ryuhei gets a love letter, Kunihisa is definitely displeased. Now if only he could figure out why. Then when Kunihisa is spending too much time with the student council vice president, Ryuhei gets angrier and angrier without realizing the source. This volume ends with a bit of a dramatic realization for Ryuhei.

Like Fujiyama-san’s other titles, this latest yaoi manga holds an appealing art style and an interesting blend of intriguing character development and subtle romances.The manga holds a bonus story about Furuya and Aikawa, the teacher and his lover from the beginning of the story who was Ryuhei’s first love.

IN SUMMARY:
High school never looked liked this! A love story set in an unusual school, Sunflower holds surprises and a fun appeal. The madcap high school antics of the student council combined with the various charismatic young men will appeal to fans of Princess Princess and Gakuen Heaven.
