A surprise dry run screening of Appleseed Ex Machina was held at the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston, Texas on July 31, 2007.

After an announcement at Comic Con International 2007 this past weekend that ADV Films will dubbed Appleseed Ex Machina, about 100 lucky fans that showed up at the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston, Texas on July 31, 2007 were surprised with a complete dubbed version of the John Woo produced animated film.

Joseph Cho, who made the announcement this past Saturday (07/28) at the ADV Panel, was on hand to witness the positive reaction from the fans. John Woo, the executive producer of the film, lend his action prowess in the film, as the action scenes are vividly his style, from the empty bullet shells falling on the ground, empty bullet cartridges being discharge, the motion of the characters shooting, and the stop motion action are all in this featured film.

The fans positive reaction was tremendous and gave the ADV staff and cast and crew of the movie something to smile about. Luci Christian, who was selected by the Japanese production company to play the role of  Deunan Knute attended the screening.  She was superb as the female protagonist, as she gives life to her character with her diverse vocal range. John Gremillion, whose voice eluded me by showing his own variety of vocal range, played the antagonist and scheming Dr. Kestner in the film. Other voice actors that attended the screening are Alison Sumrall (Athena), Hillary Haag (Hitomi), and Melissa Davis. ADR Director Steven Foster, who did a phenomenal job directing this high profile film, proves that ADV Films can dub as good or better as anyone in Hollywood. Other notable voice actors in the show are Dave Mantranga as Briarios and Illich Guardiola as Triarios.

Warner Brothers will distribute the movie this fall (tentatively).

As for the movie itself, Appleseed Ex Machina is one action anime that fans should watch in the big screen. In addition, thanks to ADV Films, over a hundred people, including me enjoyed a dry run screening of what to become one of the most anticipated anime to hit the big screen.
