The closer Ranmaru gets to uncovering the mystery of the phantoms, the arcane pieces of the box, and what happened at the Machida complex five years ago, the closer he comes to a nightmarish den of secrets and twisted lives.

His investigation leads to the one pulling the strings behind all of this, and who may be the single one most responsible for the phantoms entering the world and what happened at the Machida complex. However, the discovery of their true enemy unleashes a torrent of attacks upon them as Tokko discovers traitors in their midst, who are powerful enough to dismantle Tokko itself! Can Ranmaru save Sakura, his sister, and the world? Find out in this blood soaked and action packed final volume!

With the danger never greater, Sakura and Ranmaru grow closer. When his life is in jeopardy, Sakura risks her own soul by entering his to try to save him from the hold the phantoms have on him. With the ugly truths about the phantoms and their lives a symbiotes revealed, the members of Tokko must make drastic choices, awful choices. Their plight is one that garners an enormous amount of sympathy, even pity for the tragic events unfolding. The show has strong final climatic episodes giving more depth and discoveries about the characters of Tokko, their past, and their connections to the phantoms – as well as how it all affects their fate. There is a lot of suspense, action, and horror in these final episodes, many lives will be lost. And fans will be pleased with the amount of thick, wet sounds of blood and eviscerations occurring throughout the final episodes. Although the anime has a way of ending without truly finishing the story (a technique very common in anime), it manages to wrap up the main storyline with enough satisfaction while keeping the door open for any possible future anime seasons.

EXTRAS:
Bonus features include other Manga Entertainment previews, image gallery, and a Making of Tokko feature from the original Japanese DVD releases. It takes us behind the scenes with video interviews with a large portion of the Japanese cast and crew. BE WARNED! If you don’t want the ending of the anime ruined for you before you watch the final volume, then don’t watch this special feature until after you’ve seen the entire anime! It holds some massive spoilers. Like the previous behind the scenes, this also runs an impressive 35 minutes in length.

Eater Egg Alert! If you go to the Extras page, then go down to where it says “main” to return you back to the main menu, once over the “main” symbol, click the left arrow key on your DVD remote, it will highlight a suddenly appearing Tokko symbol. Press enter and it will take you into a blooper reel with the English cast.
