OTAKU UNIVERSITY INC.: CALL FOR COSPLAYERS AND FASHION DESIGNERS
Thursday, 12 July 2007
Otaku University, the nation’s first anime related educational conference, is in search of cosplayers and fashion designers for its first fashion show.  The educational conference is a three day event scheduled to run from September 28-30, 2007 in East Valley area of Phoenix, Arizona.

Otaku University, the nation’s first anime related educational conference is looking for dedicated contestants for its first fashion show.  The fashion show features two different sections, ‘Apparel Entries’ and ‘Costume Entries’.  Both allow the designer to create their own original costumes and every day street wear influenced by Japanese fashion trends and anime/manga designs.

This is a great opportunity for attendees to expand their costuming resume as well as receive feedback from professionals such as Dennita Sewell.  Dennita currently works at the Phoenix Art Museum as the Curator of Fashion Design following her six-year career as the Collections Manager at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.  She has an MFA in Design from the Yale School of Drama.  Ms. Sewall will be a judge for Otaku University’s Fashion Show (http://www.otakuuconf.org/fashionShow.html).  More judges to be announced.

Online registration is now open.  To register, please visit the official website and choose ‘Registration’ on the navigation menu.  More information about guest professors, judges, events, the Otaku and Academia Symposium, and the $1,000 ‘Registration for Education’ grant is also available on the website: www.otakuuconf.org
