The adventures of the Galaxy Angel Troupe didn’t end with Milfeulle and the rest. This all new Angel Troupe takes to the skies and adventures with an all new cast and some very familiar faces in Galaxy Angel II.
This manga series that’s based on the popular game that inspired an exciting anime franchise, takes place after Milfeulle has become the Gate Keeper between their galaxy, Eden, and the newly discovered galaxy called Neue. The original Angel Troupe has disbanded but a new troupe is being formed: Angel Troupe Rune. Takuto is anxious to find more Gate Keepers to free his bride Milfeulle. That task is left to the intrepid and zany crew of the Angel Troupe Rune. And most of them have ties to characters Galaxy Angel fans know very well. First is the hapless yet enthusiastic pastry chef turned recruit Kazuya. He’s nice and sweet and loves to bake pastries for his fellow troupe members. Its love at first sight when he meets Apricot (Rico), who turns out to be Milfeulle’s little sister and has a violent reaction whenever a male touches her, no matter how innocently. She is joined by Nano Nano, the little girl/robot found by a certain former Galaxy Angel. She’s cute and funny. One of the more unusual members is Kahlua. She’s a magician and when she tastes liquor turns into an alternate personality called Tequila and Tequila is a handful of sexually aggressive trouble! Rounding off their group is noble knight Lily, who is as beautiful as she is honorable. Just as they all meet, they’re challenged by a troublesome treasure hunter who makes off not only with their new space ship the Brave Heart Emblem Frame, but also steals Nano Nano! Galaxy Angel II is fun and as fluffy as the delicious pastries Kazuya makes. There’s the undercurrent of the importance of finding other Gate Keepers to free Milfeulle, but overall the manga stays in a fun and energetic comedic place. Kazuya’s introduction to all his team members is highly entertaining. The show then shows us the back story of how Kazuya fell into being the only male member of the Rune Angel Troupe. The rest of the first volume of this manga focuses on Anise, how she’s connected with an original Angel troupe member, and how she gives the new troupe a run for their money as this treasure hunter takes off with their newest ship and Nano Nano. The series in the first volume is fun and fast paced even though it sometimes comes across a bit fragmented. But since it doesn’t tackle anything heavy, the jumping around isn’t too much of a bother. The art work is very comely and has a bit of fan service too. And this isn’t a rehashing of the same types of characters from the first Angel Troupe. The fun and comedy is very similar but the characters are a whole new fresh breeze of zany entertainment for Galaxy Angel fans to enjoy. Broccoli Books have offered a treasure trove of extras with this manga, including four full color cover pages, a preview of the next volume, cast interviews with the cast who do the voices of the characters in the game, Galaxy Angel Files with character bios, a relationship chart, translation notes, ship specs, and four-panel comic strips. IN SUMMARY: Galaxy Angel II introduces a whole new group of cute young women tackling the problems of two galaxies in this fun and comedic manga series.
