I’ve have been waiting for a yaoi as funny and lively as Our Kingdom, and Love Hurricane is it. It has four stories centering around the lives of a bunch of boys at an all boys school. It’s highly comedic, a real romp and had me laughing out loud throughout the stories.

The main couple focused on in this volume is Azuma and Mizuki. The temperamental Mizuki is molested one day on the subway and finds out it’s none other than the student council president Azuma who is admired by all. Mizuki tries to confront Azuma about his behavior but is swept up by Azuma’s aggressive seductions time and time again. Azuma claims it’s love, but when Mizuki finds out why –because he reminded Azuma of his pet dog, he goes ballistic! This story is hilarious. Mizuki is an easy dupe and Azuma lives in his own world. Put the two together and you get a gut-bustlingly funny couple.

The other stories are just as amusing even though they are shorter. There’s Akira and Izumi, two step-brothers who share a rather unique relationship. Misunderstandings happen and Akira is forced to prove to Izumi just how much he does not think of Izumi as a brother, no way, no how. Then we meet Hazuomi who is determined to date playboy Minato. No one thinks he stands a chance, but Hazuomi has found an unconventional approach that just might win him the heart of the most unattached boy in the school. Last is the story of Taiga and Yuki. Childhood friends, they haven’t seen each other in years. When they are reunited, Taiga has a big surprise when he discovers the cute little girl he was friends with is really a boy, and that boy has plans for Taiga!

This is some of the most fun I’ve had reading a yaoi in some time. It’s pure comedic and sinful enjoyment all rolled together. Not only is the comedy well done and have an infectious energy, it also has fantastic art which holds a myriad of quite explicit love scenes amongst the various couples.

Manga extras include 4 full color pages of the different couples:  Taiga and Yuki, Hazuomi and Minato, Akira and Izumi, Azuma and Mizuki, and there is also a new 801-chab comic on the inside flap of the dust cover.

IN SUMMARY:
Love is a Hurricane will sweep you up in a maelstrom of comedy and romance.
