Set at first a year later, this second volume is a series of shorts focusing on the various couples and individuals introduced and developed in the first manga. One year later and we get to see just what has become of the teacher and his chef, Toyo and Kobayashi, and even sweet and lonely Narumi.

The manga hosts some unusual pacing. Many of the stories are exceedingly short and each chapter tends to deal with a different individual or couple. The jumping around between characters over such short chapters can seem a tad abrupt at times, but each chapter is an absorbing slice of human drama, at times humorous excerpts and others, telling romance. This manga holds more explicit images than most of Fumi Yoshinaga’s art works. And the tales and images throughout the story range from comedic, to romantic, to bittersweet. Not everything has a perfect ending, not unlike real life. There are ups and downs. As the manga progresses, the chapters begin to jump forward more and more in time until we at last see some of these characters years later and find out what at least part of fate has had in store for them.

For fans of the first volume, this will be a must have to find out how everything turned out. For yaoi fans in general, this manga offers a very different style of story telling for you to experience.

IN SUMMARY:
The Moon and the Sandals volume 2 offers up several short stories that look into the lives of the various characters of the series, offering readers a look into the characters’ futures and a myriad of emotions to experience through the diversity of the story telling.
