Ed and Lin battle Gluttony who has augmented his powers to become a terrifying beast – his true form. Envy joins the fray for some vicious attacks upon Lin. In the midst of the fight the two heroes are swallowed whole by the homunculus. The stakes are driven higher, the cost more frightening and the suspense rises exponentially in the latest volume of this hit series. Swallowed by Gluttony, Ed discovers the awful truth behind the Ishbal civil war when Ed and Lin are faced with Envy in his true and terrifying form. It forces Ed to fathom the horrible truth of what really happened at Cselkcess and why. And what that means for the Homunculi and their goal for Amestris. Plus Ed finds a link to the Portal of Truth and perhaps a way to get to Al’s body, but at a potentially frightening cost.
In other places, Roy Mustang confronts King Bradley about his suspicions that Bradley is in fact one of the homunculi. It leads to a shocking confession and the revelation of the origins of King Bradley. There’s also a startling turn of events for Hawkeye. With everything going on, this latest volume still takes a few pages here and there to show readers what is happening with Lin’s protector after she lost her arm and now lies badly wounded and helplessly hurting in her inability to protect Lin. And there is the unlikely pairing of Scar as he helps May Chang try to find her pet panda. All this is told at a break neck pace and with great art work. It’s no wonder Fullmetal Alchemist continues to top the charts as one of the number one manga series. IN SUMMARY: Big revelations and shocking truths are uncovered in the latest volume of this incredible fantasy series. |
