Paniponi Dash is, as they say, completely and utterly escapist in every way. And that’s a good thing! Sometimes we are in the mood for something very serious and story based, and other times we just want to sit back and be befuddled and made to laugh. Well, Paniponi Dash should be your first choice if you need some extra odd ball humour slapped down on your plate for consumption. This show is weird, but always intelligently funny and with a truckload of style. Style, style, style – this show drips with it, especially with the wide variety of opening sequences that are all awesome and very re-viewable.
The fourth volume, “Iron Teacher,” takes the show up yet another notch, if that’s really possible. Whether it’s a picnicking expedition gone so very, very wrong or the ever watching aliens deciding to finally make contact with the girls they’ve been observing, this volume is at least 30% crazier than the last one. Be sure to enjoy seeing the entire class balance on the edge of a cliff in a school bus, possibly teetering to their deaths no doubt. If that doesn’t get you, marvel as a close encounter of the strangest kind as the tin can headed aliens drop down to partake in Becky’s daily lesson. The wildest school carnival ever to take place is also a must this time around – such includes giant cakes, cute painted chicks, and hot chicks in cute outfits. Confused? I’m just getting your feet wet for you. This show is the perfect fit for any obsessive otaku who needs an extra hint of crazy stuff to make a show worth watching. Of course the animation, music, and general all around style of the show is not letting up. Everything is crazy and bright, often being thrown together in a way that can’t be compared to much of anything else out there, unless we want to touch on Excel Saga and all it had to offer us when it was the craziest thing going. Not enough good things can be said about this anime and the crazy characters that call it home. If you consider your sense of humour to be of the weird persuasion, it shouldn’t take more than this review to persuade you to watch it. EXTRAS: AD Vid-Notes, Episode 18 on air opening, “In Class with the Cast,” reversible DVD cover, and a clean closing. IN SUMMARY: Paniponi Dash proves again and again that it is willing to do whatever it takes to be the strangest odd ball comedy on the anime market today! This one is a diamond in the rough when it comes to quirky laughs and over the top craziness. |
