The dude with the strongest ARM can win it all in this kickin’ new shonen anime!

MÄR – Marchen Awakens Romance is a new anime TV series based on the manga by Nobuyuki Anzai, the same cat who did Flame of Recca. And the story starts off with some smashin’ hard rock electric guitar and a hyper guy named Ginta with his head in the clouds and a crazy recurring dream about a land where flowers can talk, birds have three heads, and he gets to be a hero. Things pick up for the day dreamer when a crazy clown gateway appears and he’s transported to the fantasy realm from his dreams. Now he has to find a way home, but meanwhile why not have some fun while he’s there?

This guy is a dude after my own heart. Instead of getting all freaked and panicking over being in some strange fantasy world, Ginta thinks it’s better than video games, better than comic books, better than anything! He’s all for the adventure and gets you psyched up with him. First a devious (and hilarious) witch tries to manipulate Ginta into helping her get a legendary ARM, cool devices that you can use to defend yourself, fight, and in some cases travel dimensions. His help doesn’t exactly go the way the witch planned when Ginta finds the legendary one and only living and talking ARM – Babbo. He’s a ball and chain with a mustachio and a funky personality. And everybody wants him and they don’t mind going through Ginta to get him!

Babbo’s hilarious, but he has mystery attached to his chrome dome too. It turns out Ginta and Babbo need each other. Ginta needs him to survive this place while Babbo needs such an energetic pal and help finding out who he is, ya see, he lost his memory. The two bond and before you can say “adventure” the two find themselves defending against attacks from other people with ARMs, helping out a boy against veggie eating werewolves, and arriving at a strange town. Next, the Thieves Guild puts a price on obtaining Babbo and they don’t mind if Ginta gets killed to get the legendary Arm!

And that’s just the start of this crazy action ride!

There are all sorts of mayhem and wacky characters. It’s hyper and fun and any fan of One Piece will have to check out this anime. The animation has a lot of slick CG stuff going on and the hard rock really drives up the hype and energy of the show. This volume ends on a wicked cliffhanger with cool dude Alviss showing up, the very guy who may be responsible for getting Ginta in this fantasy realm!

IN SUMMARY:
MÄR is an energizing fantasy adventure. Fans of One Piece will love Mar’s hyper action and sense of humor.
