The first season of Moonlight Mile aired on WOWOW scramble from March to May 2007. In addition to the 5.1 ch surround sound and high quality video, it was the rich human drama which helped it gain popularity - and not just among anime fans, but normal drama viewers as well. Because of this, a second season is set to begin broadcast in the fall.

It is based on Yasuo Otagaki's sci-fi social human drama (currently being published in Big Comics Superior), which is set in space in a realistic near future. The theme of the original work is: "Mankind continues to long for space. What is it that draws people to this unknown frontier? Is it for the future? Or is it because of their own ambitions?" The appeal of this work is that is ingeniously realizes the feelings of mankind toward space. The vast amount of knowledge and precision that went into the depiction of space makes it overwhelmingly realistic. The space depicted in this work is convincing, making you believe that it could quite possibly actually exist in the real world in the near future. This appeal that this work has gained great interest from readers.

There are currently 13 volumes of the comic that have been published. Sales have reached over 1,400,000.

In the second season, the space colonization operation goes into full swing, and the binding specialists take part in a story that takes place in the vastness of space.

The story does not revolve around only the American space force which Lostman is a part of, but the Chinese space force also comes to the fore, and the state of things in space changes completely. Tensions rise quickly. Will Goro and the others be able to reach the moon safely?
