Ken Akamatsu, creator of best-seller Love Hina has brought an extensive 16 volumes of hit Negima, where Negi is scorned for not preventing Chao-san's plot, he is imprisoned in an underground compound even if he is the son of the Thousand Master, he must take being reprimanded seriously. While he is shut in there he is faced with accepting he might not see his students again.

Enter the Negi Rescue Team who are not about to let Negi-sensei down if they can help it. Though now that he has been mysteriously changed into a white ermine who has been removed from his post at Mahora Academy, Setsuna and her friend face Toko Kuzunoha and her companions down as they want they to surrender to them as they say Negi is safe under their protection - but is he?

It is not long before the Negi Rescue Team find out Negi -san's location and are ready to rescue him from the building.

While still in the compound, Negi gets on with Takamichi, and they discuss various topics including when he had Chao-san in his clutches he let her go. There is the possibility of someone siding with Chao and that may be the reason for his imprisonment there, but Negi is unsure as Takamichi will not truly answer his questions.

This manga has plenty of extras at the back of the book, The Lexicon Negimarium translates the Latin and Greek terms used in the book and goes on to explain them in great detail, a Fan Art Corner showcases snippets of lovely art involving the Negima characters, 3D Backgrounds Explanation Corner giving the reader a good idea of the scenery in that world through blue prints of the areas from Stone Castle to Evangelene's House, Class Roster of the characters in portrait style pictures, cover Concept Sketches and some more information on the author make this one of the most exciting volumes yet.

Ken Akamatsu is already a manga legend for creating the Love Hina series before it became an anime hit, and A.I.Love You, which was serialised in Weekly Shonen Magazine. He had briefly created a number of fanzines and gained some fame earlier in his career under the name Awa Mizuno, and was noticed at a Comiket Convention in Tokyo, and the rest is history as they say.
His success is due to the characters' bubbly personalities in his work. They give an aura of excitement, which includes the men - In Negima, Negi is learned and knows what to do to make the girls tick in all the volumes. First released in February of 2003, he showed mage in training, Negi Springfield who was an English teacher during normal hours who had a hidden life and a whole host of female characters at his disposal who work with him despite him getting involved in more than he can control at times.

Negima has the lasting quality needed to keep the interest of the reader, and with all those female characters, that is a sure thing - action, battles, magic and new revelations are shown tremendously in this sixteenth volume of Negima.

IN SUMMARY:
Energetic, fun, dramatic and well worth continuing your collection.
