Orihime is faced with a dangerous and wrathful hollow, who descends upon her and her friend Chizuru. The hollow strikes, and unleashes seeds from its forehead at Orihime, who touches Chizuru, and they both become stuck together. They find out this particular hollow does not wish to fight herself, but wants to see others in combat. Orihime and Chizuru are soon met with Tatsuki who tries to aid them both - she defies the hollow who wants to control her, and pays the ultimate price even though later, Orihime releases herself and comes to her rescue. Orihime has a flashback of when Tatsuki protected her at school, remembering that it is her turn to protect Tatsuki, she unleashes her powers, which will become a serious talking point among fans of this series.

While Rukia is kept busy fighting loads of hollows, she is met by Uryu Ishida who tells her he and Ichigo are in a contest together - the one who kills the most hollows in 24 hours is the superior fighter, but Uryu does not realise the terror he has let loose in the city.

Bleach Series 1, Part 2 seems to go straight into the action with the first episode, pitting the characters against some tough hollows after Uryu has lured them to the city. A lot more is learned of Uryu's past with his grandfather while growing up.

There is another kind of hollow in this series, which rarely shows itself and is comprised of hundreds of hollows called a Minos Grande, a very powerful opponent if crossed. Rukia finds her time as a gigai is lonelier than she thought, and seeks to remedy her situation even though her school friends want her to join in their fun.

As the series deals with death and the reaping of hollows, there is nothing about the show that depresses the viewer - on the contrary, there are more gags, one-liners and innuendos than ever before.

The humour level sees the characters all managing to make the viewer laugh out loud - especially Kon, the loveable plushie who has really evolved since he was first introduced, and seems to be getting more air time people will come to consider well deserved. Kon is the fun element, which injects humour when needed to tone down the serious aspects of the episodes.

More is realised of the Zanpakuto, namely Ichigo's katana which Uryu discovers he does not know the name of, and as a result cannot summon or use its power - yet Ichigo has power he can draw on despite Uryu thinking this lack of knowledge is a hindrance.

There is something that happens in this part 2 of the series that leads on into series 2 to provide the best entertainment anyone could want. This series can only get better as it expands the universe of Bleach itself.
