As Sanzo is still laid down in a bad state, Cho and Gojyo discuss what they will do next, while Goku tries his best to help Sanzo in his own way. Cho comes to terms with how powerful God is, and feels they are in a situation they cannot win.

When Goku returns, they do not expect him helping them by bringing a table and a sheet opening a box of Mahjong. Thinking it is just a simple series of games, the others play along as it takes their minds off their true problem. This is, until they find that Goku is winning all the time. Then things start to get very agitated. When Goku says he is winning due to the others being weaker players, he means it - much to the anger of Hakkai, Sanzo and Gojyo. His reason? He never wants to lose again to God after what he did to them.

When they all play a few more games of Mahjong, and win, they realise they must all go back together to the place where they were defeated and work as a team using a strategy so they can pin down God and win against his powers. The problem is who is this God character and who is at the root of his power?

This volume sees the Sanzo party finally coming out of their weakness stage and becoming more of a team as they are supposed to be even though they do not always see eye to eye. They understand they must forgo their differences and become a four man fighting team against all dangerous odds.

Interestingly enough, the viewer will be assured they can have enough power too give God a decent fight, but will they win? The pacing of the story is well paced as the viewer will find it an interlude to a battle that will surely be worth watching. This also sees the four recovering from their wounds in the previous volume, which left them hurt, scarred and emotionally weakened.

As always, the short Extra animations bring a delightful intermission to the episodes.

This volume also marks the end of this particular series and will leave the viewer feeling elated at the eventual outcome.

EXTRAS:
Saiyuki Reload Volume 7 comes complete with wonderful text-less opening and closing animations, a stunningly beautiful line art gallery with pencil sketches of the Sanzo party, one in particular depicts the sensual masculine form brilliantly, trailers and DVD credits to aid the viewing experience.

IN SUMMARY:
Breathtaking, a wonder to watch - the season finale shows the fab four truly back to fighting form!
