"Because I had lost Dai, fall season seemed to slowly peel away its leaves, revealing only a naked and barren landscape." Jaehee wants to talk to Dai, but he constantly ignores, and when he wants to go out with him, he is always busy doing something else without him. Jaehee wonders why this is happening as he thought they were doing well before. Once Jaehee finally gets a chance to see him and Dai tells him he wants nothing more to do with him until they graduate. Jaehee is unhappy at this turn of events as he has been worried about him and just decides to let him do his own thing for a while as he knows how stuck in his ways his lover can get. In an effort to encourage Dai to change his ways, Miss Jin is practically begged by his mother to give Dai instruction on how to be a nicer individual, but Dai hears them both talking about him outside of class and thinks Jin is going to spy on him and whoever he sees as friends, then report it back to her. Jin has to convince him she is looking after his best interests, but Dai thinks due to him not fitting in with their school like they want him to, he is seen as a bad influence, and just wants them both to leave him alone. What Dai does not know is that his mother also wanted to know about Jaehee, and tells her husband he sounds like a decent kid, but the father is adamant he does not want them both to see each other. So when Naru, Jaehee's closest friend comes and tells him they might all be suspended from school for being at the railway that day, he feels everyone is set against him including Dai himself. It is only when Naru and Jaehee get beat up by other kids in their school that Jaehee finally is met with a serious and somewhat concerned Dai Lee, but will he save the day? Let Dai 13 is a perfect volume, as is shows the couple at an empass in their lives that has steadily rocketed out of control. Dai wants to be with Jaehee, but not at the expense of disobeying his parents who have ordered him not to see the boy. For the both of them there is inner turmoil as both feel the loss of love, though Dai never lets how he feels show to others, he is not afraid in this instance to show it to Jaehee.
This volume is a mix of romantic interludes, reminising of times past and the realisation of danger along the way.
IN SUMMARY: Heartbreaking consequences of love rear their head in this instalment of Let Dai. Despair, sadness and loss overcome Jaehee as their love is postponed till after Dai graduates. This is emotionally powerful and shocking.
