Risking all, the angel Karasu and the demon Shirasagi follow their uncommonly knowledgeable companion Koumori into Purgatory. Therein lies the place of Judgment, where the scales are weighed. It is there that Karasu hopes to be able to make the sacrifice necessary to grant his beloved Shirasagi’s wish, no matter the cost to himself. But other forces, both in Heaven and in Hell, are there too, and they have a plan… The conclusion to this intricately woven fantasy tale builds to an incredible finale. The true plans of those involved, the secret of who Koumori really is, and the ultimate fate of both the world, Heaven, Hell and two star-crossed lovers are all discovered in this third volume. Deadly traps, deadlier secrets, and high suspense make for a bewitching tale. The finely done and subtle romance between the two men, an angel and a devil, is beautifully portrayed. The well developed characters and innovative story telling make for an immersing experience. Throughout the series, the imagination of the re-conceptualized ideas of Heaven, Hell and those who reside within them, have been both inventive and compelling. But it is in this final volume that the new ideas presented and events that unfold become captivating. It’s wonderfully imaginative. Fans of such manga as Angel Sanctuary will definitely not want to miss out on the Gothic tale of otherworldly proportions found in Innocent Bird. The art has been astonishing. It far surpasses most shonen ai and standard yaoi that are released in North America. Hirotaki Kisaragi is a gifted artist and talented story teller that bears watching.
IN SUMMARY: Innocent Bird comes to an astonishing conclusion in this final volume. Lush art, beautiful demons and handsome angels are but some of the highlights in this enthralling tale.
