Ok folks, let's keep a cool head, and handle this thread civilly.

I believe I've been pretty civil. I may use some strong language, but mostly because a lot of Mr. Smith's attitude really irked me.

Cameron, the interview is a straight forward interview, and focuses on what is currently happening and what could happen. We didn't want to diviate away from that.

The only thing I have to say about that is that the first rule that I learned at J-school was, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out."

But again, journalism is something I take quite passionately, and it's not my Web site.

I'll said it again, ADV started torrenting information about their shows approximatley 3 years ago, but it still wasn't enough for the fans.

I've said it other forums, and I'll say it again here. ADV has been one of the most forward thinking distrubutors I've seen. They rock.

The problem isn't the distributors, it's at the source. The distrubtors are being hamstrung by the animation companies and by the time they actually release their product it's already old news.

The fundamental problem is this: Entertainment has a very limited shelf life. Once it's released it immedeately decreases in value. By the time, ADV or Funimation get it, it's effectively worthless. Mostly that's due to fansubbers, but the whole reason that the fansubbers can ruin it's profit is that the animation companies aren't beating them to the punch.

From there, you can say that he is doing something, so give Mr. Smith a benefit of the doubt.

Fair enough. I did miss that statement in the mix of all of the rest of it. My apologies.

that doesn't give anyone the right to download intellectual properties

Still not arguing that point. However, not seeing where it's pertinent to the situation.
