A D R D I R E C T O R - C H A R L E S C A M P B E L L Q & A
| How did you feel
about directing such a beloved cult series? |
| I wanted to honor its previous
incarnations while adding the original elements that were lost from the
original. I hope that this version pleases all the fans both old and
new. It was the most exciting and enjoyable show I've ever worked on
(and I've been doing this since 1995)! |
| What were you
thoughts about directing a series that you used to watch when you where
a kid? |
| Its just amazing. You know, I used to
watch this show after coming home from elementary school. It's funny how
so many things from my childhood have come full circle. When I was up in
Austin at Monster Island I got to direct Getter Robo: Armageddon and
Mazinkaiser which were both shows based on toys I used to play with
called The Shogun Warriors. Then, coming down to Houston and working on
Gatchaman!? Incredible. My love for all of these characters and shows
just made me want to do them all the justice they deserved. Seemed like
a really cool way of keeping those legends alive for future generations. |
| Having to direct
such a long show, what would you miss the most about the series? |
| Working with the cast. Everyone was
so talented and we had so much fun in the process. We worked on this
show for a year and a half! 105 episodes! Doing a show set in the 70's
was also a unique opportunity to bring back all the silly slang , groovy
fashions, and jammin music of those days ! Directing Gatchaman was truly
a once in a lifetime experience. I'd do another 105 eps! |
